Navy Headquarters, Navy-Defense Industry Technical Conference

The Navy-Defense Industry Technical Conference 2024 is an event of great relevance in the field of collaboration between the Spanish Armed Forces and the technology and defense industry. These conferences, organized by the Spanish Navy and various companies in the sector, seek to promote dialogue and the joint development of innovative solutions that strengthen the operational capabilities of naval and military defense. Its main objective is to create a space in which to discuss the technological and strategic challenges of the Navy, while exploring new opportunities for cooperation between industry and the Armed Forces.

In the 2024 edition, a number of cutting-edge topics were addressed, focusing on how technological innovation can improve the Navy's operational capabilities. Among the most outstanding presentations were those related to the “Digital Twin”, a technology that allows digitally replicating physical systems to perform simulations, analysis and optimizations in real time, and whose potential for defense is immense. The challenges and advantages of its implementation in the Navy were discussed, with a focus on improving planning and strategic decision making. Another key topic was the use of photonic technologies, which enable the development of more advanced sensors, faster and more secure communication systems, and improved optical equipment for reconnaissance and surveillance missions. These technologies provide a critical capability for defense by enabling more accurate and rapid responses in increasingly complex environments.

The role of cloud computing in the management of Navy resources and operations was also discussed in depth. The ability to access large volumes of data quickly and securely has direct implications for real-time decision making and operational coordination between units, representing a significant improvement in efficiency and responsiveness. In addition to these presentations, the conference included panels on the use of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in defense. AI is transforming the way information is gathered and analyzed, improving real-time decision making and optimizing military operations. Current developments and future applications of AI in the Navy were discussed, as well as the risks associated with its implementation, such as cyber hazards. Experts also offered solutions to mitigate these risks through advanced security protocols and measures.

Within the topic of AI, SEDA was presented to show the development of this type of technology by HI-Iberia for the Ministry of Defense. The capabilities and advantages of its use in operational areas were highlighted, as well as the acceleration in the analysis of satellite images to obtain reports that help in decision making.

Within the framework of these conferences, two crucial aspects were highlighted: collaboration with leading technology companies and the need for the industry to adapt to the specific demands of the defense environment. The Navy-Industry 2024 Technical Conferences were consolidated as a vital meeting point to address the challenges of the future, generating a forum in which innovation and technology go hand in hand to strengthen the security and operational efficiency of the Navy.
